Melissa M. Borras

Melissa M. Borras, age 25, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth. Melissa was born in Port Jervis, N.Y., on Feb. 19, 1990, and had lived in Sussex County for most of her life. She is survived by her mother, Donna M. Borras of Sussex; her father, Gregory Borras, Sr. of Vernon; her three brothers, Richard "Ricky" Willet of Asbury Park and Greg Borras and Jake Borras, both of Sussex; her sister, Caitlin Borras of Sussex; and her nieces, Layla Marie, Allana Bella, and Scarlet Victoria. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.

Friends may pay their respects prior to the service on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

To know Melissa is to love her. The last few months she was with us she was able to experience freedom, independence, solitude, recovery, happiness, and peace. Though small, Melissa's big heart and huge spirit touched the lives of many. We will carry her with us always.

In Melissa's words, "They say a family that prays together stays together, and one that walks apart just falls apart. So together we stand, divided we fall." Melissa will be dearly missed. As her family we promise to keep her name alive by helping others, just as Melissa would have wanted to. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the family and will be placed in a fund set up for drug awareness.
