Children graduate from safety program

After a weeklong series of lessons, 31 Vernon children graduated on Friday, July 31, from the PAL Safety Town program during ceremonies held at the Vernon Police Athletic League gymnasium.

In addition to the teachers, 16 teenage volunteered as assistants in the program that was funded by a $5,600 grant from State Farm Insurance that was meant to pay for the program and purchase new supplies for the Safety Town program.

During the week, the topics covers included bicycle safety, school bus safety, fire safety, gun safety, bear safety, stranger danger, water safety and child assault prevention.
