Miners to feature movies for children

    — Community members looking for something fun to do with their kids on Friday nights this summer can trek over to Skylands Stadium, home of the Sussex County Miners, for their Movie Night Fridays.

    The event will feature the Lego Movie and Big Hero 6. The movies will take place on the stadium video board.

    Movie-goers can bring blankets and lawn chairs to view the movie from the outfield.

    On July 31, the stadium will show the Lego Movie at 9 p.m. On Aug. 7, the featured movie will be Big Hero 6, which will begin after the Miners game against the New Jersey Jackals. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. and gates will open at 6 p.m..

    “Movie Night Fridays are fast becoming a Sussex County tradition for families. We invite the entire community to come and enjoy movie nights, as well as the 23 home games the Miners will play in August and early September,” said Dave Chase, general manager of the Sussex County Miners.

    Tickets to Movie Night Fridays cost $10. Concession stands will be open and will sell popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs and other treats.

    Other events at Skylands Stadium this summer include Saturday night fireworks after Miners home games on Aug. 1, Aug. 15, Aug. 22, Aug. 29 and Sept. 5. The Miners also feature weekly specials, which include Family Fun Sundays, Munchy Mondays, Two for Tuesdays, Kids Go Free Wednesdays and Cheap Cheap Thursdays.

    Skylands Stadium is located at 94 Championship Place in Augusta.

    Tickets for Sussex County Miners games are $10 for reserve seating and $12 for field-level seats.
