200 Club gives scholarships to family of Sussex County first responders

ANDOVER — The 200 Club of Sussex County recently awarded scholarships totaling over $32,000 to students from Sussex County who are members of first responder families.

These students were selected from among 28 applicants, all of whom had impeccable scholastic and service credentials.

Founded in 1991, The 200 Club of Sussex County is a charitable, non-profit organization comprised entirely of dedicated volunteers. The Club's primary mission is to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of first responders who lose their lives in the line of duty. Covered first responders must be members of local police departments, fire departments, EMS agencies, the Sussex County Sheriff's Office or the New Jersey state police, who live in or serve in Sussex County.

Additionally, the 200 Club of Sussex County awards scholarships in the Spring of each year. Several of the scholarships are funded jointly by some Sussex County businesses and service organizations.

This year’s recipients of jointly sponsored scholarships are:

Samantha L. Fritsch, Kittatinny Regional High School — $10,000 Joint Scholarship awarded by: The 200 Club & Franklin Mutual Insurance

Allison M. Smith, Newton High School — $5,000 Joint Scholarship awarded by The 200 Club & Hudson Farm

Paige E. Hennighan, Sussex County Technical School — $1,500 Joint Scholarship awarded by The 200 Club & Knights of Columbus Marquette Council No. 588 of Sparta

Chad M. DiBlasio, Sparta High School — $750 Joint Scholarship awarded by The 200 Club & Sparta FOP

Alexandra L. Takacs, Sparta High School — $750 Joint Scholarship awarded by The 200 Club & Sparta FOP Lodge #26

This year’s recipients of 200 Club sole sponsored scholarships are:

Elizabeth Catherine Ysais, Veritas Christian Academy — $2,500

Jonathan Peter Couce, Ithaca College — $1,500

Carly A. Roe, Penn State University — $1,500

Cole Harrison Parker Benson, Sussex County Technical School — $1,500

Dylan A. Koch, Wallkill Valley Regional High School — $1,500

Supritha R. Dugyala, Newton High School — $1,500

Vito Turi, Kittatinny Regional High School — $1,500

In addition, two $1,000 Scholarships funded by the 200 Club through the Sussex County Community College Foundation were awarded by the Foundation.
