Freisinger succeeds on Rowan track team

    Edward Freisinger from Wallkill Valley High School was a sophomore distance runner for the Rowan University men’s outdoor track and field team this past season.

    Freisinger had his team’s fourth-best time all season in the 10,000-meter run (32.50.49) at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pa. Freisinger placed fourth in the 10,000 meters at the New Jersey Athletic Conference championships held at Ramapo College in Mahwah.

    The Profs won the team title at the NJAC championships with a score of 223. Freisinger is a Rowan Scholar-Athlete for the second consecutive year.

    Rebecca Hutsebaut from Vernon High School was a senior catcher and utility player for the Drew University softball program. Hutsebaut started in 15 games and had six hits and four RBIs. She tallied five runs scored this spring. Hutsebaut was listed as a dual major in elementary education and psychology.

    The Rangers had an overall record of 11-27 and they were 7-5 on their home field. They had a win in the Landmark Conference versus the University of Scranton. Drew ended its season with consecutive wins over Yeshiva University.

    Dalton Rimmer was a sophomore midfielder for the Faireigh Dickinson University men’s lacrosse program this past spring. Rimmer competed in all 15 games and started in 14 of them for the Devils. He tallied three goals.

    Fairleigh Dickinson had an overall record of 8-7 and they were 4-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. In the MAC Freedom Conference Tournament, they were defeated by Misericordia University in a semifinal game held in Dallas, Pa.

    Megan Kelly from Vernon High school was a senior distance runner at Georgian Court University women’s track and field team. Georgian Court placed first at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet held in Lakewood. Kelly is listed as an english major.

    Brian Mills from Vernon High School was a sophomore midfielder for the Kean University men’s lacrosse program this spring. Mills played in 14 games and posted eight goals and two assists.

    The Cougars had an overall record of 9-8 and they were 5-3 at home. In the Skyline Conference, they had a mark of 4-2. Kean advanced to the Skyline Conference Tournament where they were defeated in the semifinals by Stockton University in a game played in Pomona.
