The seventh annual Gray Cup Invitational Golf Classic is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17 at the links-style Ballyowen Golf Club.

The day features many amenities including a shotgun start, complimentary cart use, exciting contests during play, lunch, cocktails, gourmet dinner, silent auction, raffle prizes, wonderful camaraderie, and much more.

The cash prize for the tournament s Hole-in-One Contest is $34,000 this year in honor of The Conservancy's 34 years of dedicated service to the residents of and visitors to New Jersey.

Last year Mark Lapczynski of Clifton hit the first hole-in-one in Gray Cup history.

"When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things," Lapczynski said.

The Gray Cup Invitational Golf Classic is named in honor of dedicated conservationist C. Graydon Gray Rogers and his many years of outstanding service to The Land Conservancy of New Jersey, including 10 years on the Board of Trustees and three years as chairman of the board. Rogers and his wife, Mollie, also established The Rogers Family Scholarship in 2006 to expand The Land Conservancy's educational support for outstanding New Jersey college students pursuing careers in the environmental and conservation fields. To date, scholarships have been awarded totaling $60,000. Michael Endicott of South Plainfield, a senior majoring in Geography at Rutgers, was the 2014 The Rogers Family Scholarship recipient.

Check in for the event begins at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m., and a shotgun start at 12:15 p.m. The cost for an individual player is $450 which covers greens fees, cart, lunch, cocktail reception, and gourmet dinner, and multiple course contests, including the hole-in-one. There are many other opportunities to participate, including foursome packages and sponsorships. The Land Conservancy also is seeking donations of goods and services for the silent auction and raffle. Businesses and individuals are welcome to purchase space in the event s popular Program Journal for ads or special messages.
