Dance Expression dancers compete in Maryland

OCEAN CITY, MD. — The Dance Expression Dance Arts Performance Company participated in the GROOVE National Dance & Talent Competition in Ocean City, Md., on July 6-9.

Dancers were awarded the top overall 1st Place Award for a TEEN Small Group for their Contemporary piece, "Pre-Effect," choreographed by DEDA Alumni Tara Madsen Robbins as well as platinum and eighth overall for Teen Small Group Modern, "Journey", choreographed by Instructor and DEDA Alumni, Ellen McGovern.

Dances receiving Platinum Awards also included Small Group Sr.Contemporary "Drop", Large Group Sr. Jazz, "Sweet Dreams", Senior soloist Morgan Parker from Vernon for Modern Solo, "An Ending a Beginning" and Junior Soloist Meghan Mihalik from Vernon for Jazz Solo, "PYT".

The DEDA Production number, "FLASHDANCE", also was awarded the "Groove Directors Choice Award" for Outstanding Performance.
