Roger A. Miller

    Roger A. Miller of Fruitland Park, Fla., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages, Fla., being surrounded by his wife and two children. He was 82.

    He was born in Warwick, the son of Ronald and Rowena Miller.

    He was married to Marion Miller from Warwick.

    Roger graduated from the Warwick Valley High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 -1956.

    He also served on the Warwick Fire Department for 20 years. He attended Warwick United Methodist Church and Community Methodist Church of Fruitland Park, Fla.

    For most of his working career, he was employed by Conklin’s Building Supply Co.

    Roger’s passion in life was spending time with his wife and two children. In addition, he loved traveling, camping, carpentry and playing cards.

    Roger and Marion were responsible for getting the game “Petanque” set up at the community of where they live. His biggest enjoyment was fishing with his buddy, Mort Quackenbush, his children or his grandson.

    The place where he felt most at peace was on a lake of where he caught “Bubba, the Big One.”

    He would go out of his way to help people and would always make people laugh. He was a terrific husband, dad, and grandpa – he will surely be missed.

    Roger is survived by his wife Marion; his two children Denise Flay of Norwalk, Conn., and Michael Miller of South Salem; grandson Tim Flay of Norwalk, Conn.; sisters Janet Cahill of Warwick, Marilyn Gambino of Saugerties and Barbara Miller of Sussex, N.J.; and brother Larry Miller of Winter Springs, Fla.

    He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Miller. He had many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held July 7 at Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick. Interment followed in Warwick Cemetery.
