N.J. man arrested on multiple warrants in Vernon

    Vernon Township Police arrested Alfredo Grajales, 22, of Highland Lakes, N.J., on June 22. According to police, Sgt. Charles Reid saw a man walking on Canistear Road punching toward the sky. As Reid got closer, he recognized the man as Alfredo Grajales, who was wanted on several Vernon warrants and a no bail warrant issued by the Sussex County Superior Court.

    According to police, Reid arrested Grajales after a brief struggle. However, when Grajales was being escorted into the back of the police car, he allegedly spit at Reid's face.

    Grajales was charged with throwing bodily fluid at enforcement and resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with obstructing law enforcement and resisting arrest from the prior incident. Grajales was turned over the Sussex County Sheriff's Office for the Superior Court body warranted.

    In other police news, on June 28, township police were dispatched to a party in the Barry Lakes section of Vernon for an alleged unruly guest. Anthony Apostolico, of Boonton, was given notice that he was no longer welcome on the property and escorted off the property by police. However, after police left, Apostolico returned. Police again responded to the home and arrested Apostlico for defiant trespass. Apostolico was released pending a Vernon Township court appearance.

    Vernon police arrested another man on a warrant a day earlier. According to police, Kaseem Batchelor, 36, of Newark, N.J., was arrested on June 21 following a motor vehicle stop while a passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation.

    Batchelor was wanted out of Passaic County on a no bail warrant. Batchelor was taken into custody by Vernon police and transferred to the Passaic County Sheriff's Office.
