Lakeland Pools & Spas plans toy drive

Lakeland Pools & Spas is holding its Third Annual Toy Drive in memory of Harrison Shauger.

Harrison was born Aug. 2, 2006, with a Congenital Heart Defect knows as Tetralogy of Fallot. Harrison was well known at the store, in school and around the community for his giant smile and silly demeanor that would affect everyone he came in contact with.

Harrison lost his battle with his heart condition on March 26, 2013, after multiple surgeries and cardiac catheterizations.

The toy drive is in honor of Harrison's ninth birthday this year.

Last year the toy drive took in more than 600 toys that were then donated to the Pediatric Center for Heart Disease in Hackensack. Harrison made frequent visits to this office for heart checks. Every visit he made, he always walked out with a smile and toy in hand as they always had a little something to give to him at the end of his visit. The Shauger family would like to continue putting smiles on these precious children who battle heart disease everyday by doing these donations every year for Harrsion’s birthday.

New toys — no stuffed animals — for ages newborn to teen can now be dropped off at multiple locations: Lakeland Pools & Spas 257 Route 94 in Vernon, Lorenzo's Pizza on Main Street in Sussex Borough, Sussex United Methodist Church, 15 Bank Street in Sussex Borough and The Augusta Barber Shop, 89 Hampton House Road in Newton.
