Students in the fourth grade at Immaculate Conception Regional School recently completed their Family Tree Unit with a Mock Journey through Ellis Island.

Students participated in a re-enactment of the immigrant experience during the early 20th century. Students went through a fictional registration process and physical examination to build a greater understanding of the real life process experienced by those seeking a new life in the United States.

Students were encouraged to cultivate fictional characters based upon history, or assume the role of a real life family member.

Students also enjoyed international foods as part of the activity.
