Vernon Cyclones advance to title game

    The Vernon Cyclones beat the Sparta Muckdogs, 13-2, on Sunday, June 14, to stay undefeated and advance to the championship game.

    Max Rodriguez started on the mound, pitching four solid innings, allowing only 2 runs on 2 hits, striking out six batters before handing the ball off to George Gutierrez in the fifth inning.

    The Cyclone's defense did not make an error. The Muckdogs went through four pitchers as they all struggled to find the strike zone, walking eight Cyclone batters and giving up 12 hits.

    The Cyclones have scored a total of 115 runs and only allowed 14 this season, as they advance to the Championship Game on Father's Day at Peterson Memorial Field in Rockaway at noon.
