— A late Friday morning two-vehicle accident on Sparta Avenue sent three people to the hospital and snarled traffic for more than an a hour and thirty minutes.

At 9:20 a.m., multiple 911 calls reporting a serious motor vehicle accident sent emergency personnel to the intersection of Sparta Avenue and Andover Road.

Based on eyewitness statements and the investigation conducted by Cpl. Brian Hassloch, a Certified Accident Reconstructionist, a 1996 Buick Skylark operated by 45-year-old Joy L. Biasi, of Hackettstown, was traveling south on Sparta Avenue near the Rev. George Brown Memorial School.

A 2013 Ford F-1 pick-up Truck operated by 26-year-old Robert A. Sole, of Hamburg, was traveling north. The front seat passenger was 28-year-old Trevor A. Curren, of Sussex. The pick-up truck is owned by Window Genie of North West New Jersey Inc. The men are employees of the company, according to police.

Sole’s vehicle entered into the intersection when Biasi’s vehicle suddenly attempted to make a left hand turn onto Andover Road in front of Sole’ s truck causing a head-on collison. Biasi’s vehicle spun counter clockwise traveling north until coming to rest, facing east on the shoulder of the intersection, according to police.

Sole’s truck continued traveling north before coming to rest facing east in the middle of the intersection. Biasi suffered a possible fractured hand, neck and back injuries. Sole and Curren suffered head, neck and back injuries. None of the injuries are life threatening.

All three were transported by the Sparta Ambulance Squad to the Newton Medical Center.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

There was no evidence at the scene to suggest that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Biasi was charged with Failure to Yield the Right of Way at an Intersection and Careless Driving.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front end damage and were un-drivable.
