Beaten Track 5K planned in Newton

American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day, the largest annual trails celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, and promises to deliver a wide variety of outdoor activities for the public to enjoy.

One such event, the Off the Beaten Track 5K Trail Run at Kittatinny Valley State Park, is coordinated by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce. Now in its third year, OTBT is always held on National Trails Day.

OTBT run begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Individuals, teams, families, and walkers welcome. The USATF certified course consists of level ground, grass, and open trail and will be timed by Tristate Timing. The cost is $30. Registration forms are available for download at www.sussexcountychamber.org. Runners may also register online at www.runsignup.com. A “choo choo” run for kids is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost for the Choo Choo run is $5.00. Kittatinny Valley State Park is located at off Route 206 at 199 Goodale Road in Newton.
