Harmony in Motion attends retreat

Spring is proving to be a busy time for Harmony in Motion, a women’s a cappella chorus based in Sussex County.

The group recently spent another educational weekend retreat together at St. Mary’s Villa in Sloatsburg, N.Y. A large majority of their membership were involved with intensive voice and performance training during a long weekend in April. This annual event is a highlight of the year, and they worked with singing coach, Patty Danner, a graduate of Westminster Choir College and choral director at West Morris Mendham High School. Danner is a member of Sweet Adelines International and also sings with a champion quartet, Drive! She shared invaluable musical information with the chorus members, along with their director, Sandy Newcomer, and assistant director, Ruth Perry.

The focus of this retreat was preparation for their upcoming big show, “Come Fly With Me”, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4, at Newton High School. Tickets will go on sale in August for this musical production.

It is strongly suggested to purchase tickets in advance, since their last show was sold out. Tickets will be available from any chorus member or you may call 908-953-9544 to reserve them.
