    Alexandria Yengel, 18, of Highland Lakes was charged with driving while intoxicated after Vernon police received a call of an erratic driver near Breakneck Road.

    Police asid officers checking the area discovered a white Hyundai matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the A&P parking lot. Police said officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Yengel.

    Police said Yengel was sent to police headquarters, processed and released pending a Vernon Municipal Court appearance.

    Yengel was charged with DWI again on May 13 after police said she drove to the Vernon Township Police Dept. to file a report.

    Police said while reporting the incident, she had slowed, slurred speech and appeared to be falling asleep at times while in the police station lobby. Police said she walked to her vehicle after filing the report and entered the driver's seat. Police said she was stopped from driving the vehicle away and police conducted field sobriety tests.

    In addition to DWI, she was charged with possession of a prescription legend drug and possession of a Schedule 1 substance. She as released to a family member pending a Sussex County Superior Court appearance.

    Joseph Wallace, 48, of Vernon was charged with theft by deception, a crime of the third degree, and on an active warrant out of Vernon Township for $200.

    Police said a victim reported a theft to township police on April alleging Wallace agreed on the sale of a van that included work to be done. Police said after $5,500 worth of installments were made, police said the victim said he never heard from Wallace again and never received the van.

    Wallace was sent to Sussex County Jail in lieu of $15,200 bail.

    May 18
    Robert Baker, 35, of Vernon was charged with driving with a suspended license and on several outstanding warrants after a traffic stop.

    Police said an investigation alleged Baker was driving with a suspended license and had outstanding warrants totaling $2,200, $1,200 of which were from Vernon Township Municipal Court.

    Baker was unable to post bail and was sent to the Sussex County Jail.
