Woman's Club raises child abuse awareness

| 18 May 2015 | 02:07

In observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month, members of the GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club planted several pinwheel gardens at the Vernon PAL Building.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Child Abuse Prevention Month promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and families. Keeping in mind the 2015 theme of “Making Meaningful Connections,” the Woman’s Club connected with the Police Athletic League (PAL) to identify a prominent location where the pinwheels would be widely noticed by children and adults alike.

In addition, literature about preventing child abuse was made available inside the PAL building. The Vernon Township Woman's Club is dedicated to helping those in need, through community service and philanthropic activities.

The club meets monthly from September through June; membership is open to women of all ages. For more information, contact Elaine at 973-853-9053.
