Something's fishy in Vernon

Last Saturday, three weeks later than in years past, dozens of local children and their folks came out for this year’s annual Vernon PAL Fishing Derby at the Firemen's Pavilion Pond.

Two sessions of fishing, Grades K-2 and 3-6 allowed the youngsters the chance to catch some of the 100 rainbow and brown trout, once again donated by Vernon’s Double “V” Rod & Gun Club. Lots of bait and a good deal of fish measuring for this year’s event were donated by Mountain Mike’s Sport Shop located on Old Rudetown Road in McAfee.
