    April 20 Tammy Nicolai, 37, of Vernon, pleaded guilty to Theft by Deception and two counts of Forgery, all crimes of the third degree.

    Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 12, 2015.

    In pleading guilty, Nicolai admitted to taking checks from another person and forging that person’s signature in order to cash them between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31. The matter was investigated by the Hamburg Borough Police Department.

    Christopher J. Occhiuto, 48, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty to third degree Resisting Arrest.

    Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 12, 2015.

    On Jan. 15, 2015 in Hopatcong, Occhiuto fought with police officers who were attempting to serve him with a warrant for failure to appear for a Municipal Court hearing. The matter was investigated by the Hopatcong Police Department.

    April 21Vincent Canfield, 23, of Landing, pleaded guilty to third degree Burglary and third degree Theft.

    Sentencing is presently scheduled for May 14, 2015.

    In February the defendant and a juvenile co-defendant broke into the victim’s Newton residence taking jewelry and other personal items, while the victim was not home.

    April 24John Pierro, 44, of was sentenced to three years of probation, 180 days in the county jail, a six month loss of driver's license and $1,205 in court fines.

    He pleaded guilty on Jan. 12, 2015 to the third degree crime of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to selling heroin in Newton on Oct. 29 to an individual cooperating with the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force.

    Jessie M. Sisto, 29, of Hardyston, was sentenced to two years of probation with six months loss of her driver’s license. She must also complete 50 hours of community service, random drug testing, undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations and pay court fines and fees.

    She pleaded guilty on March 17, 2015, to third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin) and a motor vehicle violation. In December during a motor vehicle stop by Franklin Police for erratic driving, the defendant was found to be in possession of Heroin.

    Jason Cook, 31, of Sparta was sentenced to two years of probation, $1,205 in court fines and continue with recovery program.

    He pleaded guilty on Fef. 23, 2015 to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to possessing heroin on Oct. 17 in the Borough of Franklin. The matter was investigated by the Franklin Police Department.

    Charles W. Baumgardner, 29, of Branchville, was sentenced to two years of probation. He was ordered to continue all current programs he is involved in and submit to a mental health evaluation if necessary. He must pay total fines and penalties of $380 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.

    He pleaded guilty on Feb. 23 to third degree Resisting Arrest and fourth degree Obstructing the Administration of Law.

    On Nov. 1 in Branchville, New Jersey State Police Troopers attempted to prevent the defendant from driving a vehicle while he was intoxicated. Baumgardner ignored their commands to step away from his vehicle and used physical force against them in an attempt to avoid being arrested. Subsequent to his arrest and after being placed in a holding cell, Baumgardner continued to obstruct the officers’ investigation by means of force.
