Why do I go on a diet, lose weight, gain it back, go on another diet, lose weight, gain even more back? Help! Get me off this roller coaster!

Yes, that is one wild ride, isn't it? Your question is the same one many people are asking. This is what happens when we don't eat enough and lose weight. The body begins to believe there is a famine. It is programmed for survival and so lowers the metabolism to conserve energy. This lowered metabolism is not easy to reverse but with proper diet and exercise together with persistence it can be done. In fact, without persistence you will remain on that roller-coaster, gaining more weight after each loss. Sad but true.

So pick a balanced healthy diet plan that provides enough calories and a realistic exercise program and get started. Enough calories is likely the most important part here, so make sure your diet allows foods from all food groups, and eat 5 or 6 smaller meals through out the day.
