As part of the Earth Day festivities on Wednesday, a few local landscaping companies and several volunteers came to Vernon PAL building to install a new front walkway as well as spruce up the place with new mulch and plant flowers.

As part of the National Association of Landscape Professionals Annual Day of Service Countryside Landscaping, Adam Hayn Construction, and Landing-based Native Fields Landscaping brought their equipment and workers to handle the heavy tasks and walkway replacement. At the same time, PAL employees and Valley National Bank volunteers Margaret Kranz and Tom Mikolay planted flowers in front of the Vernon PAL building.

The flowers were donated by Vernon Chamber Charities, the same group that is responsible for the annual Vernon EarthFest event. While Valley Mason Supply donated the pavers for the front walkway replacement project. The event was once again coordinated by Jay Meerendonk, the owner of Countryside Landscaping.
