First Sussex County Day planned

    The Sussex County Chamber of Commercewill host the inaugural Sussex County Day on Sunday, May 3, for Sussex County Day at Sussex County Community College.

    There will be fun for kids and adults of all ages including a scavenger hunt, mini petting zoo, dunk tank, an area Fire Department Tug-O-War Contest, delicious food, entertainment and more.

    Kids are invited to bring their decorated bikes to Sussex County Day for TransOptions bike decorating contest. Gift certificates to area bike shops will be given as prizes to the first-, second- and third-place winners. TransOptions will be giving away children’s bike helmets too, while supplies last.

    This rain or shine event will run from noon until 4 p.m. outdoors under tents on the lower athletic fields of Sussex County Community College.

    Other exciting Sussex County Day highlights include:

    Sussex County Idol singing contest for kids K-12 grade

    The Atlantic Ambulance Air One helicopter – Sit inside and experience this flying emergency room. Come early to catch the landing. The helicopter usually arrives around noon.

    Fitness demonstrations by the Sussex County YMCA

    A performance by Dance Expressions Dance Arts

    Family Fest Scavenger Hunt - Find all the exhibitor booths featured on the Scavenger Hunt card, have the card stamped at each one, and then drop it off at the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce booth to be entered to win a three month membership to the Sussex County YMCA.

    Apple Pie contest
    Pie in the Face Contest featuring Sussex County VIPs. Come out and throw a whipped cream pie at your favorite VIP.
