| 20 Apr 2015 | 01:40

The Military Moms of Vernon will kick off their latest drive to collect items to ship to our troops overseas.

The group is made up of woman whose sons and/or daughters serve in the United States Military. The group was founded in 2012 and their purpose is to support moms that are new to the military world and to support our troops through various projects.

As of April 16, 2015, the collection drive is underway and all items must be received by June 8, 2015. Donations may be delivered to Lawson Chiropractic in Highland Lakes or Oak Ridge, Highland Flowers on Church Street in Vernon, Gross & Jansen in Vernon, or Pappa Contracting in McAfee. Monetary donations to help with shipping costs are greatly needed. Checks can be made out to the Military Moms of Vernon and dropped off at Highland Flowers or you can go to http://www.gofundme.com/rkgjc49s to make a donation on line.

The group will be collecting CrossFit gear, etc. for CrossFit Walter Reed; a non-profit, totally volunteer organization that coaches our wounded warriors. Contact Patti Lawson at militarymomsofvernon@gmail.com or at 973-975-9501 if you and/or your gym would like more information in regard to that aspect of our drive.
