    Joseph N. Baum, Jr., age 65, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Morristown Memorial Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. Born and raised in Pompton Plains, Joe had moved to Sussex County 40 years ago. He had served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. Joe had worked as a service technician for over 35 years in the commercial pumps and generators industry. He was a National Board member of Rolling Thunder, Inc., The National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting Club, Vietnam Veterans of America, the United States Golf Association, and the Silentia Masonic Lodge #168 in Butler and the Clarksburg Masonic Lodge #87 of Clark. He was predeceased by his mother, Lois Baum, in 2007 and his sister, Cheryl Azzinaro in 2012. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail (nee Helfand); his son, Jason Baum of Sussex; his daughter, Allison Barca and her husband, Joseph, of Vernon; his father, Joseph W. Baum, Sr., of Pompton Plains; his brothers, Robert Baum of Slate Hill, New York and Donald Baum of North Carolina; his sister, Carol Miller, and her husband Veryl of Pennsylvania; and his three grandchildren Kayla, Dylan, Lia; and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
