    March 27Steven Hill, 65, of Newton was sentenced to two years of probation, $1,205 in court fines and a substance abuse evaluation.

    He pleaded guilty on Jan. 26 to the third-degree crime of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

    He admitted to selling heroin to an individula cooperating with the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Fore in Newton on Oct. 22, 2014.

    March 30Anthony Lutz, 22, of Sussex Borough pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing and criminal mischief, both fourth-degree crimes. Sentencing is scheduled for May 29.

    Lutz admitted to kicking in the front door and caused damage while attempting to enter the home of a Sussex Borough resident.

    April 2Richard Weekes, 58, of Franklin pleaded guilty to eluding, a third-degree crime. Sentencing is scheduled for May 22.

    He admitted that while operating his motor vehicle in the Town of Sparta, he eluded the police after receiving a signal from the officer to stop the vehicle.

    April 6Thomas R. Morrison, 49, of Netcong pleaded guilty to fourth-degree unlawful taking of a means of conveyance and the motor vehicle offense of driving with a suspended license.

    In pleading guilty, Morrison admitted to taking a vehicle from a business in Hopatcong on Feb. 22, 2015, without the owner’s consent or permission. His driving privileges were suspended at the time of the incident. The matter was investigated by Patrolman A. Cirri of the Hopatcong Borough Police Department.

    Darrell E. Cowan, 42, of Hopatcong pleaded guilty to third-degree resisting arrest and the disorderly persons offense of theft.

    Sentencing is scheduled for May 8.

    In pleading guilty, Cowan admitted to taking property from other patrons at a business in Roxbury Township on Dec. 18, 2014. Later, when officers attempted to arrest him in Hopatcong, he refused to be arrested and struggled with the officers.

    Carlos R. Velez, 31, of Newark pleaded guilty to third-degree theft.

    Sentencing is scheduled for May 29.

    In pleading guilty, Velez admitted to taking a piece of equipment from a business in Branchville on Dec. 13, 2014. The matter was investigated by Trooper Jacinto of the New Jersey state police.

    Vincent Mafaro, 39, of Newton pleaded guilty to the third-degree crimes of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and distribution of heroin.

    Sentencing is scheduled for April 28.

    He admitted to possessing crack cocame on Jan. 14, 2014, in Andover Borough. The matter was investigated by New Jersey State Trooper G. Almonte. He also admitted to seiling heroin to an individual cooperating with the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force on August 20,2014, in the Town of Newton.

    April 10Matthew Lucenti, 24, of Stockholm was sentenced to three years DOC, subject to 3 years of parole ineligibility and NERA. All fees, fines and 24 months revocation of his driver's license and $5,000 in restitution to VCCO.

    Lucenti pleaded guilty on Feb. 9, 2015, to Count One of an Indictment handed up on Oct. 8, 2013, death by Auto, a crime of the second degree.

    Lucenti was operating his motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the Township of Hardyston. At approximately 3 a.m., he crashed the vehicle on Rte. 94, killing his occupant M.B. In addition, Lucenti pleaded guilty to the disorderly person’s offense of failure to make lawful disposition of a controlled dangerous substance, to wit, cocaine. This offense occurred on Aug. 15, 2013, in the Township of Sparta.

    Amber Muller, 21, of Wantage was sentenced to three years of probation on condition she serve 10 days in the Sheriff's Labor Assistance Program, pay $2,778.34 restitution and pay court fines and fees.

    She pleaded guilty on Jan. 26, 2015, to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and third-degree theft.

    While the defendant was employed at the Hamburg Subway, she took money from the cash register. During her processing at police headquarters she was found to be in possession of Suboxone and did not have a prescription for the drug.
