The fifth annual Shawn Damstra Winter Classic was held on Saturday, Feb 7, 2015, in Pleasant Valley Lake. The classic is an ice fishing contest held in memory of Shawn, who passed away in 2009 at age 24 due to an undiagnosed heart-related problem. Despite bitter cold and windy weather, our hearts were warmed; family, friends, fun and fishing won out.

Year after year, so many contribute their time and hard work to make the classic a success. We won’t try to name them here; you know who you are. Our generous donors have always played a key role. As of this year, more than $12,000 will have been awarded as scholarships to Vernon Township High School seniors. We couldn’t be more proud or grateful.
