Vernal pools nature walk planned

WANTAGE — The Lusscroft Farm Vernal Pools Nature Walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, from 2-3

The walk will include visits to several vernal pools to explore these habitats and learn why these sites are important to many species of amphibians, reptiles, insects and other wildlife.

Visitors will see how the awakening of the many creatures in and around these pools signals the arrival of spring. Microscopes and magnifying glasses will be available to investigate the “micro-world” of vernal pools. This activity is rain or shine.

Casual and novice hikers are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All hikers should wear appropriate shoes and clothing for hiking.

The walk will begin at the Turner Mansion located at 50 Nielson Road in Wantage.

There is no fee for this activity, but donations are appreciated.
