Sussex man falls to death

HAMBURG — A 24-year-old Sussex man was found dead on a road below the Route 94 overpass in Hamburg on Sunday night.

Joseph Carlson, 24, either jumped or fell to his death, according to Hamburg Police Director Wayne Yahm.

The fall was estimated to be between 50 to 75 feet, he said.

Yahm said a 911 call was made at 11:43 p.m. by a somebody who reported seeing a man acting suspiciously before jumping or falling to his death, Yohm said.

An investigation into the death is ongoing between the Hamburg Police Department and Sussex County Prosecutor's Office, he said.

Yahm said police found Carlson's body on the service road underneath the overpass. He was declared dead at the scene.
