Lusscroft Farm held its maple sugaring event last weekend March 21 and 22 and also will hold another one this weekend March 28 and 29.

Frank Hennion ran the event. Hennion stated his four principles of management, Plan, Organize, Direct and Control. This year was a rotten year putting them almost three and a half weeks behind their normal schedule, he said.

Normally trees are tapped during Presidents Week, with the sap processing and bottling being finished by St. Patrick's Day.

Next year, they are planning the event for the last weekend in March. Joe Bruschetta is a forrester that was giving tours throughout the weekend through the Sugar Bush, which are like maple tree groves. Along the way, Bruschetta explained the process it takes to get from maple tree sap to breakfast-table syrup.

The finished syrup could be sampled in the Sugar Shack where they process it and bottles were available for sale.

The event also will be going on next weekend.
