SCCC signs transfer agreement with John Jay

NEWTON — In its continuing efforts to forge relationships with four-year colleges, Sussex County Community College recently signed a transfer agreement with John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

According to the agreement, an Associate in Science Criminal Justice degree and its accompanying credits from Sussex County Community College will be fully transferable toward a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice at John Jay College.

“Thanks to the support of our faculty and staff and the faculty and staff at John Jay College, we have been able to carefully align curricula with that of the criminal justice program at John Jay College, enabling us to add this to our growing roster of transfer agreements," said Mary Ellen Donner, Interim Dean of Mathematics, Science, and Business at Sussex County Community College. "While many of our students have gone on to John Jay in the past, this agreement formalizes the relationship and streamlines the process more effectively."

"We at John Jay College know that the Criminal Justice team at Sussex County Community College runs a fine program," said David Barnet, Director of Academic Planning at John Jay. "Through the years we’ve always been happy to welcome well-prepared SCCC transfer students. It’s our hope that this new transfer agreement will encourage even more SCCC grads to choose to pursue their bachelor’s degree at John Jay.”

John Jay is the latest four-year college that has joined the SCCC "family" with identified transferable degree programs.

Other participating colleges include Felician College, Berkeley College, Centenary College, East Stroudsburg University, Montclair State University, NJIT, Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Marywood University, Ramapo College, Rutgers University, and William Paterson University.

Sussex County Community College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and offers 18 Degree Programs, 25 Degree Options, eight Professional Certificates, 10 Health Sciences Certificates, and 24 Corporate and Community Education Training Certificates and Career Programs.
