Edana Lobosco was one of 15 student performers who took part in the annual Variety Show at Vernon Township High School to raise much needed funds for its sister school on the eastern cape of South Africa, the Lijlio Mission School.

Art teacher Lisa Hirkaler visited the school nearly eight years ago, saw the desperate need, and began the Variety Shows as a way to connect the Vernon students to a school and a cause.

Since then VTHS has raised nearly $10,000, which has been used to purchase furniture, uniforms, textbooks and pay for student fees. The Variety Show itself features students who have to audition for a coveted spot, and who always deliver a high caliber show for a packed house.
