Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge is partnering with the National Wild Turkey Federation to offer a unique spring turkey hunting opportunity for people with permanent disabilities.

The refuge's goal is to provide a personal quality hunting experience for those who are physically challenged. Interested parties should contact the refuge at 973-702-7266, Ext. 10. If selected, the hunter will be assigned a date and teamed up with a skilled caller/guide. Special transportation and accommodations may be available for those needing extra assistance.

All successful applicants will be required to obtain a state 2015 turkey hunting license and Zone 5 permit for hunting period B, from April 27-May 1 or D week, May 11-22.

The hunting location is a parcel of 167 acres of field and forest habitat owned and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Hunting at this location is only permitted during these special events. A $100 refundable deposit is due at registration; deadline to express interest is April 1, 2015.
