The Sussex Elks Lodge No. 2288 wil commemorate the 65th anniversary of the start of the Korean War with a free, full-day trip for Korean War veterans on Saturday, March 21.

The day will begin with breakfast at the Lake Hopatcong Elks Lodge in Mt. Arlington. The group will then board a chartered coach bus to Atlantic City to participate in a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at the New Jersey Korean War Veterans’ Memorial next to the boardwalk.

Dignitaries from the state Department of Veterans Affairs will welcome the group and participate in the event. Following lunch, the veterans will tour the battleship New Jersey in Camden, have dinner at the Princeton Elks Lodge then return to Mt. Arlington.

It is anticipated the day will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

The trip is only for veterans. If a care taker is necessary for mobility purposes, that person would be allowed. Veterans must be able to navigate a few steps to attend this trip. Wheelchairs will be accommodated in the undercarriage of the bus. Members of the Sussex Elks Lodge Veterans Committee will be in attendance to provide any help and support throughout the trip.

Reservations are first-come, first served and will close when the bus is at capacity. To reserve a place, call Carol Lee Spages at 973-383-0731 or email clspages@earthlink.net.
