SPARTA — The Sparta wrestling team shut out the Vernon Vikings, 81-0, on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The Spartans got pinfall victories from Sierra Blasone (113 pounds), Grand Gerndt (120), Ian Burke (145), Nathan Sowers (152), Walker Schmitzer (160), Al Falco (170), Connor Lore (182), Zach Herbert (195), Gavin Lally (220) and Robert Gennat (285).
Vernon's Sultan DeStani (138) took Sparta's Sean McHugh the distance in a 3-0 loss.
Sparta improved to 13-3, while Vernon fell to 2-15.
