On the heels of Councilman Bruce LaBar's resignation Jan. 7, the Sussex Borough Council unanimously selected Mario Poggi to take LaBar's place on Tuesday.

Poggi will serve the remainder of LaBar's 2015 Sussex Borough Council term.

Because LaBar is affilitated with the Republican party, the Council had 30 days to vote on a recommendation given by the Sussex Borough Republican Committee.

The Republican Committee Chairwoman Marina Krynicky and Vice-chairman Robert Holowach submitted three names for the Council to consider: Edward Meyer, Mario Poggi, and John Titka on Jan. 15.

Municipal Clerk/Administrator Mark Zschack swore Poggi in after the vote. Councilman Poggi then took his place on the dais to participate in the meeting.
