Christopher Tetelman, 30, of Stanhope was charged with burglary, theft and possession of a hypodermic needled after Vernon Township police received numerous calls from residents in Vernon Valley Lake reporting cars had been entered and items removed.

Police said police received a call from a resident on County Highway near the Legends Hotel, reporting a suspicious man was looking into the window of his car.

Police said they found Tetelman and that he had a warrant for his arrest out of the city of Orange. Police also said they determined Tetelman's car was parked at the end of the driveway and had run out of gas.

Police said they found him to be in possession of items, including back packs, tools and GPS units, which have allegedly been stolen from numerous cars earlier that morning. He was sent to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail.

    Jan. 17
Thomas J. Butler, 59, of Highland Lakes was charged with driving while intoxicated, carless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

Police said they responded to Highland Lakes for a one-car motor vehicle accident and that, upon their arrival, the driver fled the scene.

Police said the driver was located walking near Lakeside Drive East and Breakneck Road by patrols. He is alleged to have failed several field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.
