    Louiza Lateer, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Newton Medical Center. Born in Shawville, Quebec, Canada, to the late Roy Winter and Margaret Jane Sharpe, Mrs. Lateer came to the United States when she was 5 years old and lived in Sussex County all of her life. She had been a telephone operator for the Farmer’s Union and had worked in Sussex. Mrs. Lateer had been a member of the Sussex Wesleyan Church, the Auxiliary of the Pochuck Fire Department, and the Golden Lunch Bunch. Mrs. Lateer was predeceased by her husband, John E. Lateer, Jr. on Dec. 31, 2012; her two brothers, Ernest and Arlington Sharpe; and her two sisters, June Riley and Dolores Kaller. She is survived by her son, John E. Lateer, III and his wife, Kelli, of Honesdale, Pa.,; her daughter, Brenda Preston of Sussex Borough; her two grandchildren, John E. Lateer, IV, and his wife, Terri, of Seattle, Wash., and Heather DeVries and her husband, Rich, of Pine Bush, N.Y.; her step-granddaughter, Kacie Johannes of Honesdale, Pa.; and her three great grandchildren, Robert Dakota and Amber and Jessica DeVries of Pine Bush, N.Y. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Friday, Jan. 16, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.
