Walter Zmuda

    Walter Zmuda, 87, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Care One in Morristown. Born in Wallington to the late Andrew and Anna Zmuda, he lived in Sussex County for most of his life. He had been a self-employed logger and was presented with the Logger of the Year Award from the New Jersey Forestry. Mr. Zmuda had also served as the district fire warden for the New Jersey Forestry and was one of the original founding members of the Pochuck Fire Department. Mr. Zmuda was predeceased by his son, Terry B. Zmuda in 2001, his two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Zmuda, and his sister, Caroline Porada. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Johnson); his daughter, Linda Berezny of Mountain Lakes; his two grandchildren, Denise Dierson and Alissa Anglin; and his two great granddaughters. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery.
