Willempje 'Winnie' Vander Groef

    Willempje “Winnie” Vander Groef, 100, passed away at the Barn Hill Health Care Center in Newton on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. She was born on April 11, 1914, in Dirksland, Netherlands, to the late Cornelius and Maatje (nee Van Bruinisse) Van der Stad. Winnie came to the United States in 1955 and was a resident of Andover Township and in 1973 moved to Wantage.

    Winnie was a homemaker and attended the Sussex Christian Reformed Church.

    Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius, in 1997, and her son, Case, in 1999, and her daughter, Martha Schoelier, in 2008

    Winnie is survived by her five sons, Nick Vander Groef and his wife, Jeannette, of Wantage, Arie Vander Groef and his wife, Tina, of West Winfield, N,Y,, Adrian Vander Groef and his wife, Elly, of Green Twp., William Vander Groef and his wife, Dee, of Canton, Mich., and Jacobus Vander Groef and his wife, Suzan of Sweetwater, Tenn., and her son-in-law, Joe Schoelier, of Green Twp., and her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Vander Groef, of Wantage, and her cherished 39 grandchildren, and her 90 great grandchildren, and her 30 great-great grandchildren.

    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third Street, Sussex, N.J., on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Frankford Plains Cemetery, Frankford Twp., N.J. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers to the Sussex Christian School, or the Northwest Christian School, or the Veritas High School.
