    Dawn Carol LaGreca (nee Henninger), 79 years old, died after a brief illness at her home on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2014. Born to Frank and Ruth Henninger in Hackensack, N.J., she had lived in Carlstadt and East Rutherford before moving to the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Twp., N.J., in 1970.

    Dawn was a graduate of William Paterson College earning her BA in education. She then worked as an elementary school teacher for the Vernon Board of Education at The Walnut Ridge School for more than 30 years before retiring. She was a competitive archer and active with Outward Bound and the Vernon Twp. Education Association. She was a member of the Sussex County Retired Educators Association, the NJEA and the NEA. She took great joy in walking, helping with the sailing group on the lake, baking and cake decorating.

    Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ruth Henninger and a brother, Alvin Henninger, and was the devoted mother of Roy LaGreca and his wife, Roxane, of Milford, Pa.; loving grandmother of Neil, Sean and Tyler LaGreca; great grandmother of Jacob; dear sister of Frank Henninger and his wife, Dorothy, of Highland Lakes, N.J., and Jill Wallace and her husband, Tony, of Highland Lakes, N.J. Cherished by several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon Twp., N.J. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers to the Vernon Twp. Education Association Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
