Sussex Borough quickly and quietly reorganized on Jan. 6 with hardly any discussion.

Councilman-Elect Robert Holowach and Councilwoman-Elect Katherine Little were both sworn in for three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2017.

Mayor Jonathan Rose presented a plaque to Councilman Salvatore Lagattuata for his hard work and dedication as councilman and member of the Land Use Board.

Rose also presented a plaque to Councilwoman Marina Krynicky for her time served on the council. Krynicky was absent because she was being sworn in at the High Point Board of Education that night.

After being unanimously approved, the 2015 Sussex Fire Department Officers were sworn in also.

One Council appointment was not unanimous. Councilwoman Linda Masson was appointed to be the 2015 council president. Councilman Robert Holowach, Councilwomen Katherine Little, Linda Masson, and Annette Stendor voted for the appointment. Councilman Bruce LaBar voted against the appointment, and Councilwoman Georgeanna Stoll abstained.

Finally, all of Mayor Rose’s appointments were unanimously approved to: the Land Use Board, Board of Health, Shade Tree Commission, Recreation Committee, Emergency Management Council, Water Sewer Rate Structure Committee, and Council Committees. Councilman Bruce LaBar abstained from the Shade Tree Commission appointment.
