Ernestine Andersen(nee Liegeois), 102 years old, died after a brief illness at her home on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015. Born to Ernest and Marie Liegeois in Palisades Park, N.J., she had lived in Closter, N.J., before moving to Vernon Twp., N.J., 32 years ago.

Ernestine graduated from the Paterson State Normal School with her BA in Education and worked as an elementary school teacher in Closter, N.J., for 33 years retiring in 1982. She was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Vernon, N.J., established and served as president of the ECW at the church, volunteered with Harvest House and was active with the Friends of the Library in Vernon.

Ernestine is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Paul Andersen (2002) and 4 sisters, Madeline, Marie, Margie and June and was the devoted mother of Paulette Beer of Vernon Twp., N.J., Robert Andersen of Greentown, Pa., Paul Andersen of Vernon Twp., N.J., Karen Scott of Stillwater, N.J., and Kristin FitzPatrick of North Potomac, Md. Cherished by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive their friends at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 307 Route 94, Vernon, N.J. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service under the direction of Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon, N.J., will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon Twp., N.J.
