A head-on collision on Route 206 in Frankford sent two drivers to the hospital on Wednesday, according to state police.

Jay Kaplan, 45, of Mt. Arlington, is in serious condition after his 2014 Kia allegedly swerved across a double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 2013 Ford F-150 truck driven by Timothy Steele, 32, of Sandyston, on Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported at approximately 10:50 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said.

Both men were transported to Morristown Medical Center. Steele was reported to be in stable condition.

Charges could be pending against Kaplan for vehicular assault, Williams said. Kaplan was believed to have been possibly driving under the influence of drugs, he said. Police are awaiting lab tests of suspected cocaine found in Kaplan's car, Williams said. Police are also awaiting toxicology results on Kaplan.

The crash occurred during periods of heavy rain in the area.
