    Douglas Gray, 37, of Newton was sentenced to 2 years of probation and credit for 66 days served in the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility.

    He must also pay $180 in court fines/fees and submit a DNA sample.

    He pleaded guilty on Aug. 4, to third-degree burglary.

    The defendant entered his neighbor’s Sparta apartment with the intent to take property belonging to his neighbor.

    Dec. 15
    Scott August, 34, of Hopatcong pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats, burglary and theft, all third-degree crimes.

    Sentencing is scheduled for January.

    Allen Parks, 51, of Charlott, N.C. pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary, a crime of the third degree, and one count of second-degree theft.

    Sentencing is scheudled for March 6, 2015.

    Between October 2013 and March 2014 the defendant broke into four different Century Link facilities in Sussex County taking data cards and equipment from the facilities.

    Dec. 19
    Robert S. Butler, 56, of Jersey City was sentenced to 2 years of probation. He was ordered to serve twenty (20) days in the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program, submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made and have no alcohol consumption. He must pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.

    He pleaded guilty on Nov. 3 to theft, a third-degree crime, and to a violation of probation.

    He admitted to stealing personal property belonging to a homeowner in Hardyston on July 20, 2011, and the value exceeded $500. He was serving a probationary term at the time of the incident.

    Karl Friday, 40, of Jersey City was sentenced to 6 years in state prison, subject to NERA for the shooting of J.G. in the shoulder on the night of Feb. 9, 2013 in the town of Newton. He also was sentenced to 5 years State prison subject to the Graves Act for the possession of an assault rifle. These sentences were ordered to run concurrent to one another.

    Friday received jail credit for 675 days served and was ordered to pay all fees and fines.

    In addition, Friday was sentenced to 3 years state prison for striking a Sheriff’s Officer while he was incarcerated in the Keough-Dwyer Correctional Facility on the aforementioned shooting charges. This sentence was ordered to run consecutive to the sentence for the shooting case.

    Friday pleaded guilty on Oct. 21 to aggravated assault, a crime of the second degree, and possession of an assault weapon, a crime of the second degree, both off an indictment handed up on Oct. 8, 2013. Friday also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a uniformed sherriff’s officer, a crime of the third degree, off the Indictment also handed up on Oct. 8, 2013.

    This case was investigated by the Newton Police Department, Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, The New Jersey State Police, Sparta Township Police, Denville Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
