High Point takes 2nd in Fuel Cell Challenge

Four High Point Regional High School students finished second out of 37 teams statewide in the ninth annual Hydrogen Fuel Cell Challenge.

The team's vehicle, Hydro, won its first 10 heats until it was defeated by the defending champion from Union County Magnet School.

Jason Gaccione, Andrew Elzinga, Carlo Gulotta and Hunter Attanasio were the team responsbile for High Point's best finish ever.

"These four young men deserve all the credit for having the will and determination to deal with this new, finicky fuel cell technology, while concurrently having the mechanical aptitude and ingenious spirit to custom desgin and make such a reliable vehicle," High Point Chairman of Technological Studies Brian Drelick said. "This is the perfect example of STEM coming to life."
