Dirty Dotty's to make N.J. debut in Franklin

The Dirty Dottys will make their New Jersey debut when they perform at the Irish Cottage Inn on Saturday, Dec. 27.

The Dirty Dottys are a six piece "pop-motown, rump-shaking, heart-thumping, swoon-inducing band whose goal is to create music that makes their audience, move, groove, and high five their neighbors."

Their honest, unpretentious lyrics written solidly in the vernacular of soul provide the perfect environment to set aside your insecurities and be unabashedly yourself.

The "Dottys" formed in early 2013 when lead singer/guitarist Julie DiOrio wanted to find some musicians to take her songs to the next level.

"I had all this material and basically just wanted to find some great musicians to bring my ideas to life" DiOrio said.

Making the "Dottys" most unique is their instrumentation. Backing guitarist/vocalist DiOrio are vibraphonist/vocalist Maura McGillicuddy, vocalist Ellie Foster, trombonist Austin Arroco, upright bassist Danny Teza and drummer Jonathan Kessler.

Since their inception, The Dottys have made their way through the New England music scene with a strong fan-base in Boston. And now in support of their newly released debut self-titled EP, they are taking their show on the road.

A homecoming for Vernon native, Danny Teza, The Dottys play the Irish Cottage in Franklin before heading to the Rockwood Music Hall in Manhattan the following night.

"A hometown showcase was always anticipated," Teza said. "I figured this was a perfect time to bring the band down to Sussex County and introduce them to the New Jersey scene"
