    William George Hawley, 70, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 9, 2014, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, N.J. He was the son of the late John and Rose (Nee Semmens) Hawley. He was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Jersey City, and was a longtime resident of Vernon before moving to Whiting 15 years ago.

    William was a United State Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a plumber for AUD Plumbing in Rockaway, N.J., retiring 15 years ago. He was an active member of his local VFW Post #10118 in Lacey Township.

    He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine (nee Gottberg) Hawley in 2013 and his granddaughter Jennifer Kirchmer Young in 2009.

    William is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Dodson and her husband, Richard, of Vernon, Linda Saso and her husband Paul of Hardyston, Joan Kirchmer and her husband, Michael, of Vernon, Eileen Baker and her husband, Richard, of Vernon, and a son, Frank Cartwright and his wife, Cindy, of Pennsylvania, and his 12 grandchildren Emma, Nicole, Jake, Paul, Corinne, Kristen, Leigh, Kimberly, Steven, Jamie, Joey, and Danica, and his 10 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, John Hawley of Virginia, Judith Borchelt and her husband, Thomas, of Idaho, David Hawley and his wife Ruth and his many nieces and nephews.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend William’s funeral services on Monday, Dec. 15, at 9:30 a.m. at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct.). Committal and interment services at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.
