As an annual holiday tradition, the Community Choral Society again its winter concert on Sunday at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in downtown Vernon.

The group is now in its 25th year, a cause for celebration for all who have been involved for a quarter century.

With a theme of “Silver Bells,” an indication of the group’s silver anniversary, the afternoon’s presentation was well attended and included a singalong with the audience. Selections that included "Silent Night", "Joy to the World", "Oh Come All Ye Faithful", and "Deck the Halls".

The afternoon also included a performance of “Gloria!” The piece was written by the Society’s Past Director David Crone. The composition was commissioned by and written for The Community Choral Society in 2000.

There was also a surprise visit by Santa Claus who asked for the children to join him in the front of the church for songs and candy cane treats. The choral society is under the direction of Danielle Kastner who was the conductor and Eleanore Hewitt O’Mara who performed on the piano. O’Mara has been the accompanist for the group’s entire 25 years.
