The real heart of the matter

I read with interest a recent letter defending Councilwoman Murphy’s recent “behavior” regarding her insistence that the question of two different copies of Resolution #14-02 exist and one copy needs to be verified as the correct and legal copy.

In my opinion the real heart of this matter, and most matters in Vernon, is the fact that certain individuals in this town are all too willing to condemn those elected members of the council who they did not support when their behavior is nothing compared to that of a specific four.

These selfsame 6 or 7 individuals have spent the last too many to count years making accusations and innuendos against those members of the community they either did not have any influence over or, for whatever reason, they held a personal grudge against. That is the behavior that should be condemned far and wide but for some reason they are allowed to continue with year in and year out. Sadder still is the fact that our mayor rewards these selfsame people with board and commission appointments and there is no indication that any of this will change.

Well, yes it can change. But only if the 10,000 give or take registered voters in Vernon actually take five minutes to vote and vote for those people they know enough about to ensure that Vernon will finally have good, representative, honest government.
