VERNON — As the lull after pumpkin season has passed, Heaven Hill Farm is now in high gear for the Christmas season.

After visitors have selected the size and type of tree they want, the tree is mounted to a “Litl Shakee” machine that vibrates off any loose needles, after which it is passed through a large cylinder that compresses and wraps the trees branches, the tree’s base is trimmed and then it is placed on the new owner’s car.

Santa will visit the farm on weekend afternoons through Dec. 14 with a guest appearance by Oliver the Goose on December 13 and 14. Trains rides are free for the children on the half hour from noon until 4 p.m.
